Celebrating Gun Appreciation Day
Went to the range today to celebrate Gun Appreciation Day with Liebie. It was crowded. An hour and a half wait. There was not nearly as much brass lying around as normal, the ones that were seemed to be aluminum or steel casings. I got to play with the Taurus 617 .357 revolver. Liebie and I ran some .38′s through it and her S&W Airweight. Both weapons had decent accuracy for a 2 1/2 barrel. I ran some Hornadays in .357 and let me tell you, you can really feel the difference in recoil. I could see where it might get to you after a few boxes. I may pick up the Ribber grips. I found a holster at Stonewall’s (where the range is). I am not a big fan of nylon, but it IS molded somehow and seems solidly made. The leather ones would not quite fit right because of the seven shot cylinder. I will probably only wear it on a belt when I am feeling froggy, or walking around the undisclosed location anyways, as I usually carry my Glock 23 concealed. After shooting the .357 with the magnum rounds, my pattern tightened up a bit with the Glock. I still need more trigger time, but who doesn’t?

Glad you had some fun, I stopped at Gander to get some shotgun shells, tomorrow try out the new riot gun, and the only 223′s they had were zombies, $24.00 a box….glad I’m set…..;)
This was the first time I had been to Stonewalls since they expanded. It’s pretty nice now. The floor in the range was the cleanest I ever saw it with the reloading people crawling around picking up brass like a crack head rummaging through shag carpeting for a piece. The only .223 I saw was at Red Dog in Chardon, PMC going for $12.50 a box. Not bad considering even though it was $7 a box a month ago.
