Call for Hand Tool “Common Sense” Controls
A Florida man has allegedly killed his neighbors using a hammer. Is it time to look at what kind of hammers are being allowed to be sold to the public? While having a hammer to pound some brads into some finishing trim in your living room might be OK for everyone without a criminal record to own,
is it really necessary for an average citizen to possess or use a contractor grade framing hammer that could be used in an assault?

Note the features that could make this hammer a danger to the general public. Ergonomic handle, one piece cast design, swoop for maximum impact

Here is an example of the cheap Chinese nail guns that are flooding our streets putting us all in danger.
A physically superior individual, or a lucky one that catches you off guard could easily overpower you with this hammer and use it as a deadly weapon. Is a framing hammer suitable for “hobby purposes” or should these hammers be reserved to contractors and maintenance professionals? Let’s not even get into nail-guns. Is it really necessary to be able to insert that many fasteners without reloading? These things can be used as weapons.
If there was only a way that law-abiding people with no felonies and being found to be mentally competent could carry concealed some kind of device to neutralize the threat a psychotic nut job with a hammer could pose.

Nice, posted……;)
Thanks Angrymike, this may go out to more than my usually 8 readers and two hecklers.
